The Perfect Match edition by Annie J Rose Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

  • Millionaire’s daughter, our h, meets restaurateur, millionaire H.
    Almost instant love.
Finally, they get together. He is crazy about her, she is crazy about him.
Simple. Nope. Now comes the dreaded ‘angst’ so many romance writers think we need or want.
After a great night of sex, she suddenly feels ‘unworthy’ of him, and begins to push him away with both hands.
To the point of ridiculous. Nothing he says will deter her. She must be brave, and save him from herself, at the cost of everything.
By the 65% point, I was fed up, and deleted it from my kindle. Great, right to the entrance of the dreaded ‘angst’. Plain old simple romance is good enough for me. How I wish it was good enough for these ‘romance’ writers.
  • This story was cute, with a qwerky heroine and a hunky Hero. She's the type who doesn't always think things through before she acts so often gets herself f into situations. She has Mommy issues as her Mom is a high powered media type who always belittles her daughter so it's no wonder that the h has confidence issues. Now the Hero has all the confidence in the world as he's made his own way since 15 and is very successful now. He finds the h and her antics creative, entertaining and fun while she ultimately sees her actions as childish (Mom's influence).

There were two times when I thought this story was going in the direction of garbage, where I expected pages and pages of angst and stupid decisions only to be nicely wrapped up in the end. But that didn't happen. The first involving a stupid decision by the h that I thought for sure would only cause trouble or break the relationship only to have him come to her rescue instead. It actually turned out to be cute and funny and lead to the advancement of the relationship. The second when she's apparently channeling her Mother and believes she's not worthy of the H and walks away. And I thought...here we go, now we'll be going through months and months of angst, etc. But again I was wrong. Instead the story picks up a month later (so no pages of pining and regrets) and here I'll stop so I don't give anything away.

Part of me wishes this story had been longer because the play between the h and H was really cute and funny, but I suspect the lack of angst in this story was due to the fact that this story was short (only about 140 odd pages). As it is the author got to the meat of the story, telling the important parts and even managing to flesh out the characters pretty well for a shorty.

All in all, if you're looking for a short, easy romance read that's entertaining and with little angst... This is definitely one to read. Enjoy.
  • I really enjoyed this book. The characters were interesting and the story line was good. I couldn’t put this book down until I finished it.
  • A lot of promise with this story. Decent banter back and forth between Clara & Adrian. But towards the end it really kind of devolved into a really whiny & not confident heroine who is still really unsure of herself, even in the end with a too confident guy.
I thought some of the 'arguements' could have been worded better to better reflect the age bracket of these characters.
Overall, I finished it. Which does say something as I don't always finish the ones that fall short in execution. But I think with some more experience, Annie has a lot of room to improve.
  • I really enjoyed this. The banter between the two characters was adorable and a few times I laughed out loud. The lead guy was super sexy, and I loved the way the sex scenes were written without gross words lol.
The only thing I didn't love was how quickly they professed their love- it felt a little too something for me
  • I really enjoyed a lot about this book. The characters were fun and although they fumbled, there was a happy ending. Call it fate or whatever you want, but this was a true fairytale book just modern. The author says she is new, but I will be looking for more from her.
  • I fell in love with the characters in this book. The story line was so cute. I really didn't like how poorly the heroine felt about herself but she was witty and smart. The hero and heroine were a perfect match and that was evident from the beginning
  • I loved the actionpacked drama. I loved that she was independent but trying to prove that she could make it with her app to her mother. But she realized she would never be what her mother wanted and that was ok and finding love and romance along the way.
